loud qathet FAQs

  • loud qathet is a 3-day musical festival that showcases punk and metal bands with socio-political and interpersonal lyrics and messages. loud qathet features bands from different parts of BC, as well as local musical acts who have helped to develop the qathet region's music scene. loud qathet caters to youth and adults looking for community, but is open to anyone who respects the loud music scene. Did we mention it takes place in a bowling alley and is a hell of a lot of FUN?!

  • We have an Instagram! Check it out!

  • loud qathet takes place at The Alley (Powered by Persephone Brewing Co.) on the main drag of the city currently known as Powell River in the qathet Region. The venue is located at 4478 Marine Ave. The fest takes place Thursday, August 20, Friday, August 21 (yes, we know it’s the same night as Blackberry Fest, don’t sweat it!), and Saturday, August 22. Doors open at 5 pm each night. Music starts at 6 pm and is over by 11 pm.

  • Passes are available via Paypal (see link above). If you don’t like paying Paypal fees, you can e-transfer $75 per adult pass and $25 per youth pass to loudqathet@gmail.com - please include your name(s) for the door. Be forewarned, we sold out quick last year and once the passes are gone, they’re gone!

  • No. Because of The Alley’s limited capacity, we only sell passes in advance. Passes go on sale May 1, 2026 and will sell out again this year, so get on it!

  • The Alley (Powered by Persephone Brewing Co.) is a newly renovated all-ages venue inside a bowling alley. Punks and metalheads can bowl (free with your loud qathet pass!), play pool, hang out, and watch bands simultaneously. Pretty wild stuff!

  • You betcha!

  • Not very. The main entrance has several steps. The driveway and paths are steep. There is a side door (available upon request) with no steps, but off the steep driveway. These conditions are far from ideal, and loud qathet will be advocating that The Alley make the venue more accessible in the future.

  • We hope not. We’re always working on more ventilation in the band area and have an ongoing plan to keep it as cool as possible.

  • Yes, with the help of the wonderful folks at True Pro Contracting and a merry bunch of volunteers, that is correct!

  • You can have as much fun as you want, as long as it’s not infringing on anyone else’s fun. If you harsh someone (or us) out with inappropriate or harassing behaviour, or you make anyone at the festival feel unsafe, you will be asked to leave. And you will leave.

ZERO TOLERANCE for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any form of discrimination. If you see something that isn’t right, please tell The Alley staff or loud qathet volunteers.

  • Again… ZERO TOLERANCE for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any form of discrimination. If you see something that isn’t right, please tell The Alley staff or loud qathet volunteers.

  • Absolutely! Send them to loudqathet@gmail.com
or tag us on social media. If we use them, you’ll get a photo credit!

  • Perhaps.
Email us at loudqathet@gmail.com and include some info about your band, links to music, social media stuff, etc. And tell us why you think you should play the fest. Be forewarned, we are booking loud bands only—punk, hardcore, metal, etc. But if you fall outside those styles, please try anyway! As long as you’re loud!
